Twenty of us gathered at Launde Abbey 17/18 November for 24 hours of our first ever physical meeting. It was way beyond expectations. As one person said, what an amazing bunch of people with an extraordinary range of involvements.
Open, honest Bible input from Proverbs and Psalms from David Hammond stimulated small group discussions and personal reflections. We got to know each other by bringing an object related to our lives and ministry and by gathering at the bar later. In the final worship, one participant took us beautifully off-piste in a spirit-led act of commitment in response to the reading and reflection. All in the beautiful rural surroundings of Launde Abbey and amazing food.
The Launde staff commented on what a live group we were, said they really enjoyed the accordion-led worship and strangers asked who we were.
Participants especially appreciated the different perspectives, fellowship, time out, opportunity to meet with God intentionally and "face to face conversations with inspiring brothers and sisters in Christ".
Some comments:
"Friendly, open, honest meeting of like minded people in a lovely environment"
“Fantastic setting, rooms, food, brilliant choice”
“Beautiful surroundings – an amazing place – felt at peace as soon as I arrived”
"Perfect in every way"
Many thanks to everyone for taking part, some travelling long distances. A particular thanks to David for leading us and others involved in prayer and worship.
There are no recordings but David's PowerPoint is below and also the notes from the short Bible reflections in the opening and closing worship times. If you enjoyed David’s stories of his journey of faith, you would enjoy his (excellent) recent book, “Journeys in Provision”.
